Cultivating a robust and efficient quantum-safe HTTPS

Google’s Chrome Secure Web and Networking Team announces a program to make HTTPS certificates resistant to quantum computers. It addresses performance and bandwidth challenges raised by larger quantum-resistant cryptography, alongside the IETF PLANTS working group.

Why it matters

Quantum-resistant certificates could make secure web connections viable as cryptography changes to withstand quantum computing. The work targets the performance and bandwidth costs that larger certificates pose for internet infrastructure.
