The FBI is investigating an identity-theft service selling more than 153 million driver’s-license scans belonging to people in the United States and Canada. Interviews with affected individuals suggest the images were taken from a Louisiana-based identity-verification company.
The reported trove puts an exceptionally large number of people at risk of identity theft and raises concerns about the security of identity-verification data.
